Artist's Comments

This is my very first full body scuplture! Not bad even if I do say so myself. This one was done using the DAS air-dry clay, and painted with metalic acrylic. It is roughly 11 inches tall, 12 inches long, and 11.5 inches wide.

I was wondering when you would do a full body sculpture! :) This one is very nicely done, it must have been so tedious creating all of those scales.

Will you be commissioning these in the future?

Wow. Now this may be a stupid question but with the Air Dry Clay you don't have to cook it right?? Hope to see more of these. :)

Right. you just have to remember that while the thinker the clay the stronger the finished piece will be, the longer it'll take to dry. I have found that using the same techniques of wire armature skeleton and foil bulking for the "muscle" works just as well with the air dry as for polymer. The clay "skin" is still about a 1/4 inch thick so it's fairly strong.

And yes... you'll be seeing a lot more full body sculptures as well as the busts.
